A journey man by nature, Erik Skar has always been one to live life on the move. Growing up in a military household, Erik was born in the south, raised in Philadelphia and then went on to live in Northfield, MN while working towards his degree in psychology from St. Olaf College. Erik’s big move came when he decided to pursue his graduate degree in Norway. While abroad, he worked as an event planner and eventually landed a spot on Norway’s version of the TV show Survivor, which was filmed in Malaysia. Returning to his roots, Erik always knew deep down that one day he would end up in the financial services industry; it was just a matter of when. His father transitioned to financial services industry as an actuary after his service in the military which gave Erik a firsthand look of what the business entailed. The desire to make a difference in the lives of others was ultimately what led Erik to start his financial services practice. Now 16 years later, Erik works primarily with unions, individuals and business owners providing solutions in the areas of life insurance, disability income insurance and annuities. He believes in the importance of providing stable solutions for his clients while building longstanding relationships built on mutual trust and understanding. Erik’s philanthropy and charitable work as a past board president of Pioneer Valley Montessori School earned him a MassMutual Community Service Award, which included a significant grant in Erik’s name in recognition of his contributions. When he’s not working and spending time with his family, Erik is an avid soccer fan who also lives, breathes and sleeps golf. He resides in Wilbraham, MA with his wife and their two daughters.
